Make sure you have first read Broken Winged Part I

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

II Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

Fear can be debilitating, or even paralyzing to a point where it makes you stop and not finish what you started or simply not move forward in a different direction that will be more beneficial in the long run. Even in our minds, and our actions when we desire to move forward it is fear that will stop us cold, so we can’t, or don’t.

Oftentimes we might suffer from procrastination or play the blame game or make excuses and put all of this in front of our situation and in front of the circumstance so that the embarrassing fact that we are afraid never has to be spoken, realized or addressed.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear…”

When we protect fear the enemy continues to win.  God says in 2 Timothy 1:7 He has not given us a spirit that we should be in fear. EVER!  There are no exceptions God makes it clear and it’s boldly stated “For God has not given us a spirit of fear…” this scripture is reminding us that fear is real, but of the many things God has given us to work with, fear was not one of them.

Fear is a trick, a stronghold, a plot by the enemy to stop you from moving forward in what God has decreed that we should be moving forward in.

Not only can fear be paralyzing, fear is debilitating which means you become weaker, and weaker the more you accept things, and people that are contrary or against God’s will in your life all working against you to perpetuate your fears. When something is debilitating it is impaired and weakened to the point to where whatever the fear is affecting becomes paralyzed and unusable.  The enemy wants us to stay focused on fear, to stay debilitated, weak, and impaired so we will not fight for what is rightfully ours.

When we are weak and full of fear in this way yes, naturally the excuses come, the blame game begins and the self-soothing to compensate for not moving forward turns into justification or worse self-pity.  The effects of fear attacks all of our feelings and causes paralyzation in that area and the next thing we know we are settling, playing it safe, or lying saying “we just didn’t want to do that anyway”. The next phase of justification is making compromises.  Making compromises places you in situations where you keep falling prey to fear and you keep losing. Did you know that you can become so accustomed to losing that you never expect to get ahead or win, or excel to the next level? Now you are falling apart because you have been weakened even more, set back and you don’t even recognize your life or how it got the way it is.

What must I do to not allow fear to get the better of me?

First thing is we must face our fear and address it as what it is.  A plot designed by the adversary to keep you in bondage long enough, so you won’t produce or move forward. Even worse, just give up.

Since fear has entered the mind through the excuses and justification process, the only way to rid yourself of this type of debilitating fear is with action.  When we have attacks in our minds it makes us doubt God’s promises, our purpose, and even if we deserve the good things we can feel deep that are in store for us. In Jeremiah 29:11 the bible says “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).

Let me assure you that God’s promises are just as real as His guidance and He will open doors for us during our own internal struggles to show you and remind you that He alone is God.  That He established your pathway and is just waiting for you to let go and follow Him.

"He will open doors for us during our own internal struggles to show you and remind you that He alone is God."

To Have that mustard seed faith spoken of in Luke 17:6. Just a small amount of faith can uproot a huge amount of fear and remove it.  Faith will wash out the mental attacks that are trying to tear you down. It will establish His Kingdom in your mind by blessing you, so you won’t continue to be paralyzed by fear, but you will enter into adoration for God, and praise for who He is, and what He has done.

The Bible says in II Timothy 1:7 that  once this way of thinking is in the forefront of your mind instead of fear you will exhibit the power of having a sound mind understanding that right at the point when you are feeling fearful God is walking with you through the valley of the shadow of death where dreams, and hopes die and He is setting you up at the table to anoint your head with His heavenly oil so you are able to shine with His Glory in your current situation.

Don’t let fear stop you from moving forward always call on the name of Jesus and let the Holy Spirit minister to you and guide you to the direction of strength in your areas of weakness.  God has plans in store for us that yes if He poured them out before us all at once we would become overwhelmed, and resort back to fear and stay there. However, the gentleness of God slowly builds our mind so that as we get stronger in our faith and He can reveal and fill us with more of the blessings from our inheritance from being a child of the King of Kings.  Hold your head up, you are royalty covered in the blood of Jesus. Fear doesn’t live here anymore!

Key Thought:  Fear can become a very real part of our lives trying to hold us back from the very Blessings God has in store for us, don’t let fear win claim your victory with the power of faith through a strong mind.

Prayer:  “Father God I have allowed fear and being afraid hold me back from walking into the Blessings I believe you have in store for me, but I know your word is true and you did not give me a spirit of fear.  Help me oh Lord overcome my fears by increasing my faith and strengthening my mind, and I will give you all the praise in Jesus name Amen.”

We as women can sometimes be our own harshest critics.  We make plans, set goals and get sidetracked, and then the enemy starts shooting arrows and even weakening our way of thinking more to a point where we want to just give up.  Well, I want to remind you what God says in his word:

“And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

In order to get over the brokenness, we must renew our minds daily. Even though it sounds hard to do with practice it becomes easier.  Our minds can be a festering playground for the enemy if we allow it to be. Things we have not let go of, and people who have hurt us all become a part of the plague of remaining in a broken state.  A broken heart that has never been mended from broken promises and broken relationships leads to depression, anger, hate, and rebellion. When we have all these weights in our mind how can we be set free to focus on the goals or plans for our future?  The answer simply is it is impossible. You will always keep reversely going back to the safety net of impure emotions like depression, hate, rage, jealousy, and rebellion when it becomes convenient for you. The only way to truly get rid of these is by making peace with the situation that first lead you to feeling broken.

I usually tell women to make a list and write down the things and or people that trigger certain feelings inside you.  We were not born with a spirit of depression, so what event made you feel depressed? We were not born angry, so you need to search your heart and mind and discover what caused you to be angry and remain angered, and why you haven’t been able to let it go?  This list can go on until we get to the core of that secret place in our hearts and minds where we store the unclaimed baggage that Jesus died on the cross for.

When Jesus died for our sins over 2,000 years ago he destroyed anything that could possibly hold us back.  Our problem is that we don’t give it to him. We hold on to the tragedies and use them as barter in our souls to “protect” ourselves from ever feeling that low, or broken again.  Even though that is generally the way we operate, unfortunately, it is not spiritually healthy. When we constantly hold on to situations or people who have hurt us, we leave little to no room for the new blessings that God wants to put in our lives.  This is why it is crucial that we renew our minds daily because everyday people will do things to attempt to discourage us and try to make us feel a way that turns that discouragement into distraction and then we are lost. Beating ourselves up and then usually never getting free from that attack only to be served another one that hits us and we are unable to recover at all so we just stay wounded stuck, and broken.

Once we are in the habit of renewing our mind a part of that means letting IT go. Usually to let things go means we need to learn and practice forgiveness.  Even when you have a problem with someone. In Mark 11:25 the bible clearly tells us that when we Pray, we must forgive everyone so that God will forgive us. If we are going to say to someone that we have forgiven them, then we need to mean it, and then let IT go. If letting IT go is difficult as it sometimes may be, then give IT to Jesus our burden bearer when we think about the person or the situation so he can truly fix IT for you and your forgiveness will be genuine.  Once we are able to get in the practice of forgiving, then renewing our minds daily is easier and we can create an atmosphere of overcoming. We will be able to politely hit the enemy back with whatever he throws your way by telling him “I rebuke you satan in the name of Jesus, you have NO hold over me!” And mean it with the power of the Spirit, and authority given to us by Jesus when he ascended to Heaven.

The only way we stay brokenhearted, captive, depressed, oppressed, enraged, angry, or sad is if we want to stay that way.

In Galatians 5:22 the bible refers to the “Fruit of God’s Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. Against these things, there is no law.” Which means we can love, and be joyful, and have patience, and be kind and good, and increase in faithfulness, and be gentle, and exemplify self-control in every situation and do it as much as we want because no one can ever have too much of these Godly characteristics. This is the perfect and acceptable will of God that we manifest the fruit of his Spirit, and remain in nothing contrary to that.

Key Thought:  Focus on those things that are acceptable to God such as an increase in the Fruit of His Spirit in your life.  Turn everything else over to Jesus and let him take away every burden, and pain until it is nothing but peace.

Prayer:  “Lord I am heavy in my spirit I have held onto many weights, and burdens for a long time now and I’m afraid to really let these things go.  I want to be free, I want to be healed, and I want to receive my deliverance so that I can be filled more Lord with the fruit of your spirit in my life"

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

I can remember when I made my first steps back into a relationship with Christ.  I was extremely nervous, anxious, and misinformed.

I was afraid that God was going to punish me for all my worldly wrongdoings.  I thought He had a list like Santa Claus and was checking it waiting for me to accept Him, so He could hold me accountable for all the wrong choices, and bad decisions I had made in my life.  I truly had no idea of what being forgiven or having forgiveness in God really meant. I would go to church, read my word, try to do as many good deeds as possible hoping that in some way I was making things better for myself.  I walked around waiting for the bomb to drop, and for me to have to pay for all the horrible things that I knew I had done, and even those things I wanted to act like weren’t a part of my reality. I quickly learned through the fellowship of other saints that God is a forgiving God, and that He cast, tosses, throws our sins into His sea of forgetfulness, and remembers them no more.Whew!!! Thank you, Lord! Cause otherwise, I might have a lot of explaining to do.

God is so merciful just, and kind that He wants to bless us.  He desires nothing more than to grant us the things we need most but many times we block our own blessings by either going back to our old situations

"God is a forgiving God, and that He cast, tosses, throws our sins into His sea of forgetfulness, and remembers them no more."

or behaviors, or we just get stuck and can’t move forward.  Therefore, God reminds us to mimic Him, and as it says in Isaiah 43:18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.” Because God has a master plan to do something new in you.  It is very difficult to move forward and do new things when you are constantly plagued by old things.

A major trick by the enemy is that he uses guilt to hold us back and down.  Guilt can fester in our mind and create a vicious cycle of not moving forward.  You will be either like a dog chasing its tail, or a dog returning to its own vomit.  When you are chasing your own tail simply means you find yourself in the same cycle of events doing the same things but expecting different outcomes.  If you are returning to your own vomit, you have gotten rid of something that was no longer a fit for your life yet, you keep trying to make it fit because guilt won’t allow you to make a clean break.

I have discovered that even if change is good, that no one likes to change. It makes us uncomfortable to not know if this change, this new way of being, acting, or thinking is going to work.  Usually we resist change even though God has expressed in Isaiah 43:19 that “I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert”. This means God already knows how uncomfortable we will be being placed in a new space, so He reassures us that regardless of what it looks like to you, if it looks like a destitute wilderness God is there, if it looks like a dry desert God is saying I am there, and I am even sprouting rivers so you won’t even need to be concerned about being thirsty.  God wants us to be reassured in this new walk with Him, that no matter what the path may look like, He is always there to make any situation you must face pleasant and peaceful for you.

"God already knows how uncomfortable we will be being placed in a new space, so He reassures us that regardless of what it looks like to you.....I am there"

In II Corinthians 5:17 the word says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have become new.” Embrace the new you.  The new mindset that is taking over will battle with the old mindset if you don’t embrace the new.

Put people in perspective. If you allow people to constantly pass judgment on you and your former ways, you will go right back to that sin cycle and be stuck in guilt and can’t move forward because you will begin to believe you are not worthy.  God says once you accepted Christ, nothing about you is the same. You need to reintroduce yourself to the world as who you were really meant to be, because until you have God leading you and Christ keeping you daily don’t be ashamed because you had no idea who you were.  Now that you are with God and Jesus Christ walk boldly into your future, speak of His everlasting goodness, and how the Holy Spirit provided peace when you needed it, joy when you needed it, and God’s over abundance of love the rest upon you daily. God has always desired good and perfect things for our lives, but the enemy worked over time to derail us from the wonderful future God had.  Now that you are with Christ building a solid relationship and an even stronger foundation embrace your new walk, and let God continue to make ways out of no way.

Key thought:  Don’t let the enemy hold you into a pattern of guilt in your mind or from other people.  Whom Christ has set free, is free indeed. Walk in your newness and let God bless you every step of the way.

Prayer:  Oh Lord who created the heavens and the earth as you are doing a new thing in my heart, my life, and my mind.  Help me to receive and walk in your goodness, and never look back or desire the old. I am grateful to you Father God for your grace and mercy, may you constantly Lord guide me every step of the way, In Jesus Name Amen.

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”  Psalm 91: 4 (NKJV)

Don’t be discouraged women of God, be encouraged in the name of Jesus!

When we begin our relationship with Christ the enemy gets angry so he uses every scare tactic he can to make us want to turn and run the other way right back into the sin cycle of the world and hide.  We must always remember the enemy is a liar and a deceiver who will do anything, and use anyone to make you think that since you have accepted or began a new walk with Christ that nothing seems to be going right.  But the Lord says he will cover you with his feathers and you can take refuge under his wings so that he can supply you with the strength, and protection you need to fight and become stronger.

In the book of John Jesus himself says “The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they (you) may have life, and have It more abundantly.” John 10:10 (NKJV). The thief wants to steal your peace of mind so he can kill your dreams and destroy your future. The only way he is able to do this is by attacking our minds with guilt from our past, trying to make us believe that we are not worthy to receive the blessings God has always had in store for us which in turn pushes us into repeating the same sin cycle that we started with that took us further and further away from a productive lifestyle that leads to our original intended abundant life.

The enemy doesn’t want your car, or your house, or even your job but if he can get your mind and cause you to think and make poor decisions and bad judgment calls then he wins and you lose.

"If you need to; reach out to a sister in the Lord to Pray with you"

Remember to keep a vigil Prayer life even when you may not feel like praying, or you think your prayers aren’t being answered; say them anyway God always wants to hear from us so he can supply us with what we stand in need of. Read your word daily for strength if you are not accustom to reading your Bible start off slow maybe with a verse or two, and then a chapter or two. If you try to read too much at one time and this is new to you, chances are you will become overwhelmed, and you will give up. The whole objective in reading the word is to gain wisdom to make better choices, knowledge of who God is, and understanding of His will and His way for your life. If you need to; reach out to a sister in the Lord to Pray with you, in the book of Proverbs 27:17 it reminds us that iron sharpens iron so if you know someone who is strong in the Lord reach out to them so they can encourage you through your walk.

"The Lord is our refuge, our hiding place, our source of strength."

In the book of John verse 16:33 Jesus says “These things I have spoken to you, that In Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (NKJV) Jesus wants to reassure us that the peace that is not available in the world is available when you choose to live a life in him. He remained in the wilderness to gain a position of strengthening, so when the enemy came at him offering him everything he had to offer, Jesus was able to stand strong on the word. If you are in the wilderness right now and it feels like you are going to and fro be encouraged woman of God let God strengthen you during this down time so the choices you made in the past will never lead to temptation again. The Lord is our refuge, our hiding place, our source of strength.

Key Thought: Let him cover you, and shield you with his protection while he repairs and strengthens you, so you will be able to soar to new heights in Christ.
